On 10 November, the PMI Southwest Ohio and Dayton/Miami Valley Chapters will bring regional project managers together for PMI Summit 2026: Building Future Ready Project Leaders at the Manor House in Mason, Ohio. This year's Summit will focus on three areas shaping the future of project leadership: sustainability, core project management capabilities and practical AI skills.
As part of the program, Elena Treshcheva will deliver a talk, ‘AI Won't Replace Your Team – But It Will Demand More of Them.’
“True AI leverage for project managers lies beyond personal productivity – it rests in team adoption, governance, and process. Grounded in regulated financial technology delivery, this session explores how to turn individual experimentation into organizational capability. Attendees will address real-world adoption challenges, including data sensitivity constraints, evolving team skill profiles, workload impacts, and identifying the essential value humans must uniquely supply when delegating tasks to AI models”.
Key takeaways:
- Distinguish personal productivity from PM leverage. Recognize why individual AI use is table stakes, and where the project manager’s real influence lies: team-level governance, process and enablement.
- Enable AI adoption under real constraints. Learn practical approaches to building context that is fully informative yet free of sensitive data, making AI usable in regulated environments.
- Plan for skill growth across the intersection. Understand how AI expands team capability in both directions – technical skills for domain experts, domain depth for engineers – and what that means for resourcing and development plans.
- Reset expectations around the engagement paradox. Anticipate why AI-assisted work often takes more time per task with wider breadth, and how to reflect that honestly in capacity planning – grounded in what humans uniquely contribute: intent.
