Testing the Untestable: Metamorphic Testing for Complex and Non-Deterministic Systems

How do you test a system when you don’t know what the correct expected behaviour should be? In domains like AI, distributed computing, and financial analytics, uncertainty and non-determinism make traditional test oracles ineffective or unavailable. This talk introduces metamorphic testing as a powerful strategy for validating such systems – by focusing not on expected results, but on expected relationships between inputs and outputs.
On 9 September, Merium Hazem Anwar Labib Bishara and Merihan Hazem Anwar Labib Bishara, Middle Software Testers, Exactpro, will explore how digital twins – simulated models of real systems – can act as practical oracles, helping define and verify consistency properties even in the absence of ground truth. Through real-world examples, you'll see how metamorphic testing combined with digital twins can help detect hidden defects, tame non-determinism, and expand what's testable across the development lifecycle.
September 8th will be fully dedicated to interactive, hands-on workshops that combine innovation with practical strategy. Open to testers of all levels – from juniors to team leads – the program will cover a range of topics, including:
- "The 10 Commandments of AI" – Artificial Intelligence ethics and responsibility
- Modern approaches to Performance Testing – Scaling and optimization
- Test Automation Workflows with Cursor – Modern Development Tools
Additionally, the event will feature the annual QA market research providing insights into recent developments and future prospects for the Georgian market.
